COURSE MAP & ROAD CLOSURES

This ROAD CLOSED course takes in the famous landmarks of Gateshead including Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Sage Gateshead, BALTIC, Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge and finishing in the iconic Gateshead International Stadium and finishing by running around the track and crossing the finish line cheered home by family and friends.

ROAD CLOSURES

The Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon and Gateshead Half Marathon & 10k will take place on Sunday 5th May 2024 and is a ROAD CLOSED event.

Please note the following timings are approximate.

Please note, there is a 15:00pm cut off (6hrs) at Gateshead Stadium and 14:30pm on the Quayside due to road re-opening, with runners moving to pavement after this.

Gateshead Side:

Neilson Road – 6:00 to 15:00
Stadium Road –  6:00 to 15:00
Tyne Main Road –  7:30 to 15:00 (expect for full access to The Schooner)
Saltmeadows Road – 7:30 to 15:00
Hawks Road – 7:30 to 15:00
Deptford Road – 7:30 to 15:00
Southshore Road – 7:30 to 15:00
Albany Road  – 7:30 to 15:00
Hillgate – 7:30 to 14:30
Bridge Street – 7:30 to 14:30
Bottle Bank – 8:30 to 14:30
Swing Bridge – 8:30 to 15:00
Sandhill – 8:30 to 14:30
curzon Place – 8:30 to 14:30
Pipewellgate – 7:30 to 15:00

Newcastle Side:

Close 8:30 – 14:30
Sandhill 8:30 – 14:30
Bridge Street 8:30 – 14:30

Please note the above closure times are the latest roads will reopen and we will endeavour to open the roads asap after the last runner passes and the closure is safe to be lifted by our Traffic Management team.

There will be NO parking at Bede Primary School this year and the following car parks are CLOSED by the event road closures: Pipewell Gate, South Shore Road, Baltic Car Park, Close Swing Bridge. The closest public car parks are:
Quarryfield Road (10min walk)
Sage Gateshead (15min walk)
Mecca Bingo (15min walk)
Gateshead Town Centre (many) (20mins walk)
NB Quarryfield Road Car Park

Please also be aware that some public car parks have some red reserved spaces for permit holders so don’t use these spaces to avoid being fined.
